About Me…..

I have been composing music for over 25 years, and since 2019 have focused specifically on writing production music for film, television, advertising and multimedia.
I have always been drawn to organic instrumentation — real guitars, drums, keyboards and vocals — all of which I perform to a high standard. Alongside this, I have a deep passion for music production, mixing and programming. Having taught music technology and music production in the South West of the UK for over 20 years, I combine practical musicianship with a technical understanding of studio craft.
Production music allows me to explore both worlds simultaneously. Across this website and my back catalogue, you will hear a consistent blend of live instrumentation with synthesis, sampling and creative sound design. I am particularly interested in pushing technological boundaries. For example, the album Glitchcoustic features entirely organic instruments that were sampled, manipulated and reprogrammed into new textures. Similarly, Glass Cities was created using only recordings of glass objects, forming the entire sonic palette of the album.
Alongside these experimental projects, I am widely recognised for versatile acoustic guitar work, including rearrangements of iconic and historic material, as heard on my Acoustic Christmas album. I also write within the pop domain, drawing on my experience as a vocalist and my passion for vocal harmony and layered arrangements.
My musical journey began at a young age. I studied music production and sound engineering at college before completing a degree in Sound Technology at the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts (LIPA). In my final year, I worked with Sony BMG Publishing, rearranging Elvis Costello’s back catalogue into contemporary pop productions. For this work, I was awarded both the Principal’s Commendation and the Sennheiser Student Outstanding Achievement Award.
After graduating, I relocated to London and worked at Phonographic Performance Limited, administering and collecting royalties on behalf of record companies. I later completed a work placement at Sony BMG Publishing before returning to the South West to begin a long-standing career in teaching and lecturing in music and music production.
During my twenties, I released my first fully self-written, performed and produced solo album, which led to my first commercial publishing deal and extensive live performances around the UK. Since then, I have continued to release solo work and remain active commercially through the band Sound of Fable, with our third album nearing completion.
I continue to explore the boundaries of music creation — writing both commercial releases and bespoke production music — always seeking new ways to combine musicianship, technology and storytelling through sound.
